Our Work Together
Goshen College has a long connection to Shirati and has used SHED as a field placement for its Study-Service Term program. Students placed with SHED have worked on locally defined projects such as school nutrition assessment and evaluation of community water-system sustainability, under local supervision.
Key Projects or Contributions
SHED's approach to student engagement is to connect learning with real program needs. Rather than creating activities simply to occupy visiting students, SHED identifies questions that matter to ongoing health, education or development work, provides local supervision and helps students collect information that can be useful to communities and project managers.
Why the Partnership Mattered
This relationship demonstrates SHED's ability to host international education responsibly. Students gain meaningful cross-cultural experience, while SHED and the community receive research, analysis or practical assistance tied to existing programs.
