Our Work Together
The Catholic University of Health and Allied Sciences is part of SHED's formal academic-health partnership with the University of Cincinnati and Village Life Outreach Project. The collaboration was designed to create a structured platform for cross-cultural health education, rural primary care, reproductive and child health training, faculty and student exchange and collaborative research — linking an established Tanzanian health-sciences university with an international academic partner and two organizations experienced in field implementation.
Key Projects or Contributions
SHED and Village Life serve as the community-facing and field-site components of the partnership, providing access to partner communities, local health facilities, staff, logistics and institutional relationships — so academic training and research connect to genuine service environments rather than being created artificially for visiting teams. SHED also coordinates schedules, transportation, local supervision, site readiness and communication with community and government stakeholders.
Why the Partnership Mattered
Rather than hosting isolated student visits, SHED provides the continuity needed for repeated training, exchange and research activities to develop over time and remain relevant to community health priorities.
