SHED's voluntary medical male circumcision work in Rorya District operated within a broader USAID-supported HIV-prevention program. Working through APHFTA and related implementing structures, SHED helped coordinate community outreach, participating health facilities, trained providers, supplies, service delivery and program reporting.
At the local level, large public-health initiatives depend on organizations that can translate national objectives into practical activity. SHED worked across facilities and communities, helped organize campaigns, supported financial and operational administration and maintained relationships with health authorities and program partners.
SHED's historical program materials record a major campaign in which thousands of procedures were completed within a short period — demonstrating that SHED can mobilize people, facilities and logistics quickly when a partner's objectives require district-wide implementation.
