Design expertise behind Roche Health Center.
The University of Oregon contributed design and built-environment expertise to Village Life's work in Tanzania, including the development of the Roche Health Center. Projects of this kind require more than architectural or design skill; they must be adapted to local construction practices, available materials, budgets, health-service needs and community priorities.
SHED supported the local side of that process by coordinating sites, community and institutional input, logistics and implementation relationships. As designs moved toward construction and use, SHED provided the local continuity needed to connect outside specialists with contractors, health staff and community stakeholders.
The collaboration is an example of SHED's capacity to work across disciplines, helping technical and design partners translate professional expertise into infrastructure that functions in a rural Tanzanian environment.
