SHED's historical academic network included the University of Southern California's Keck School of Medicine and global-health work associated with Dr. Dennis Mull. The relationship formed part of SHED's broader role as a rural clinical and community field site for international medical education.
SHED's value to a medical school is not simply providing a place to visit. We connect visiting professionals and students with local clinicians, patients, facilities and communities; arrange practical logistics; help orient visitors to the local health context; and ensure activities fit within ongoing services. That infrastructure allows academic partners to focus on learning and service while SHED manages the local relationships that make the experience possible.
The USC relationship should be understood as part of SHED's longer history of creating structured opportunities for international health-professional education in Shirati and Rorya District.
