Our Work Together
Touro University was part of SHED's historical network of medical-school and global-health collaborators in Shirati. Visiting learners and faculty participated in the broader environment of rural clinical and community health work supported by SHED.
Key Projects or Contributions
SHED's role was to provide the local structure required for meaningful field education: access to clinical settings, relationships with Tanzanian health professionals, local orientation, logistics and community context. These elements allow medical education to move beyond observation and become grounded in how rural health systems actually function.
Why the Partnership Mattered
The Touro relationship forms part of SHED's longer record of creating opportunities for international health-professional education in a setting where students can learn directly from local clinicians and communities.
