Clinical collaborator through the UC / Village Life network.
Cincinnati Children's health professionals have participated in the broader University of Cincinnati and Village Life network working with SHED in Tanzania. Clinicians and other participants have traveled to the region as part of a long-running effort to support health care and professional exchange.
SHED provides the field structure that allows specialists from a major children's hospital to contribute effectively in a rural setting. Local facilities, patient coordination, schedules, transport, community communication and follow-up must all be organized before and after a visiting clinician's work. SHED provides that continuity in partnership with Village Life and local health institutions.
This relationship demonstrates the reach of SHED's partnership network: local programs in Rorya District can draw on expertise from major international health institutions because SHED provides a reliable platform through which that expertise can be used.
