Our Work Together
SHED works closely with Rorya District authorities because long-term community development cannot succeed outside the public systems responsible for health, water, education and local administration. The relationship has included coordination with the District Medical Officer and other government officials on Roche Health Center services, immunization, HIV care and treatment, family planning, maternal and child health, outreach, health education and broader district priorities.
Key Projects or Contributions
SHED's ability to work with government is particularly important to international partners. Outside organizations may understand their technical objective but not the approvals, referral structures, staffing systems, reporting expectations or administrative relationships required locally. SHED helps bridge that gap — coordinating with the relevant offices, aligning projects with public responsibilities and helping partners avoid building parallel systems that cannot be sustained.

By maintaining these relationships year-round, SHED helps move projects from private or donor-funded initiatives toward integration with the institutions ultimately responsible for long-term public service.
